Maintaining an active role
in community initiatives

Community & Partnerships

We engage with the communities around us and connect with key community groups to better support our residents … and our neighbors.

As one of the top senior living organizations in Michigan, we strive to enhance the quality of life for both the people we serve and the people who have welcomed us into their cities and towns. UMRC & Porter Hills maintains an active role in many community groups, organizations, and initiatives, ensuring that our residents have access to helpful resources — and that the needs of older adults are considered outside the boundaries of our senior living communities.

We also collaborate with and support organizations that share our mission to provide care and services to older adults. Here are just a few of our partners:

  • Leading Age
  • Adult Learner’s Institute (ALI)
  • Alzheimer’s Association
  • Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Clark Retirement Community, St. Ann’s and Sunset Retirement Communities & Services
  • Dexter Area Historical Society
  • Emmanuel Hospice
  • Grand Rapids Community College & Partners in Action
  • THE GREEN HOUSE® Replication Initiative
  • Mercy Health Partners & Senior Resources
  • Michigan Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (MADRC)
  • Senior Neighbors, Inc.
  • TANDEM365
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
  • WAVE Transportation (Washtenaw Area Value Express)
  • YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids
